Actions speak louder than Words

It’s an age old adage, Actions speak louder than words. So simple yet so true. A few quotes I came across recently that resonated. They share the same key principles.

“You are what you do, not what you say you will do.” Carl Jung

“No matter what you think your priorities are, how you spend your time tells the real story.” Shane Parish

We tell ourselves our priorities are X, Y and Z. But if one were to look at your calendar and how you spent your time this past week, month and year, would it reflect that? If family is really important to you, how much of your time do you spend with them? If health and fitness are your priorities, how many days do you spend exercising and making sure your meals and lifestyle reflect those values? The story we tell others or ourselves need to match up to our actions, because thinking or saying wishful things does not equal reality. It’s a good start, and needs follow through. Or an honest self examination of whether we are being truthful with ourselves or the people whom we are pledging our intentions and commitments to.

And remember, each action we take is a vote on who we want to become. So let's reflect on whether our actions are speaking as loudly as our words, and if they are aligned.
